Scratch Tracks and Studio Upgrades
Spent the day working through scratch tracks for two covers we're taking into the studio soon. Still refining, still finding the right feel.
The Lynyrd Skynyrd track is getting its rhythm completely relocated—from Southern rock swagger to something more New Orleans parade-line. Took maybe twenty passes before the groove shifted from driving to dancing. That's when it clicked. The Les Paul through the Helix gives us the flexibility to try different tones and feels without rewiring the whole rig every time.
The second track stays closer to its original rhythm. Different challenge—honoring what works while still making it ours.
Studio Upgrades
Paul suggested some workflow changes that made immediate sense. Added a Novation MK4 controller and rearranged the whole space. Everything's more ergonomic now—less reaching, more playing. Small changes, big difference when you're doing twenty takes of the same section.
Logic Pro is handling it all cleanly. Ready for the real tracking sessions.
